{"id":1273,"date":"2008-08-19T09:00:02","date_gmt":"2008-08-19T13:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/harryallen.info\/?p=1273"},"modified":"2008-08-19T09:00:09","modified_gmt":"2008-08-19T13:00:09","slug":"to-catch-a-fish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/harryallen.info\/?p=1273","title":{"rendered":"To Catch a Fish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/harryallen.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/csh-016149.jpg\"  title=\"\u201cI totally rock.\u201d\"><img src=\"http:\/\/harryallen.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/csh-016149.jpg\" title=\"\u201cI totally rock.\u201d\" alt=\"\u201cI totally rock.\u201d\" align=\"middle\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not a <em>CSI<\/em> fan, but I recognize the significance of this: <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20080818\/ap_en_tv\/tv_csi_fishburne\"  target=\"_blank\">Laurence Fishburne is about to stuff <em>shut<\/em> the hole being left in the CBS series by departing star, William Petersen<\/a>, below.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><!--more-->&#8220;I am elated and delighted to be joining the cast of `CSI,'&#8221; Fishburne said in a statement, adding that he looked forward to a &#8220;wonderful collaboration&#8221; with those involved in the series.<\/p>\n<p>Fishburne plays a college lecturer and former pathologist who is focused on why people commit acts of violence.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/harryallen.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/william-petersen-csi.jpg\" title=\"\u201cI\u2019m outta here\u2026.\u201d\" alt=\"\u201cI\u2019m outta here\u2026.\u201d\" align=\"right\" width=\"200\" \/>The air date for Petersen&#8217;s final episode has yet to be determined but will be early next year. Petersen has been with the series since it debuted in fall 2000 and will remain a &#8220;CSI&#8221; <span style=\"background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; cursor: pointer; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial\" class=\"yshortcuts\" id=\"lw_1219086265_3\">executive producer<\/span>, the network said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Like I said, I don&#8217;t even watch the show, and I&#8217;m excited about this. Watching Fishburne act is like looking at someone make sculpture right in front of your face. His physicality, intensity, and presence give a massive quality to even his tiniest gestures. (Though the material was way beneath him, I couldn&#8217;t squelch wondering how he would have played Samuel L. Jackson&#8217;s &#8220;Mace Windu&#8221; in the <em>Star Wars<\/em> prequels.)<\/p>\n<p>Putting Fishburne on this show is super-smart casting. I&#8217;m kind of expecting that they&#8217;re gonna waste him, the way <em>Desperate Housewives<\/em> made bad use of Alfre Woodard.
