<\/a><\/p>\nA really amazing design, at first sight, should almost make your eyes water.<\/p>\n
Oculus<\/em>, above, is a great design<\/em>.<\/p>\n As the web site<\/a> for the ship’s maker, Boston-based Sch\u00f6pfer, states<\/a>,<\/p>\n Oculus is the first \u201cdesign launch\u201d of Sch\u00f6pfer Yachts LLC. This 250-foot vessel was designed by E. Kevin Sch\u00f6pfer, founder and owner of his namesake company.<\/p>\n Designed to accommodate 12 guests in extraordinary comfort and style, Oculus is a long distance cruising yacht capable of speeds upwards of 25 knots.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n What makes the boat even more unusual, though, is the source of its visual inspiration, dramatically visible, above.<\/p>\n The exterior styling is representative of the jaw and eye socket bone structure of large oceanic fish and mammals. Featuring a dramatic reverse bow configuration, the yacht\u2019s armature balances an elegant expression of symmetry and structure.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The interior features of Oculus focus on a 12 foot high ceiling in the main salon, a cylindrical double height dining room, central stair and elevator tube, and seemingly anatomical ceiling and floor lighting extensions giving definition to the seating areas.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The second level is the dedicated Owner\u2019s suite. Living areas and bedchambers are divided by a series of four freestanding tubes, which house bath and storage necessities.<\/p>\n In addition to the main common stair, the second Owner\u2019s stair connects to the third level aft private salon and deck \/ water feature.<\/p>\n The third level also contains the forward pilothouse and separate captain\u2019s quarters. The generous open decks with separate water features are located forward and aft for convenient guest use.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Sparkman & Stephens<\/a>, renowned shipbuilders of race-winning designs, are the naval architects of record for Sch\u00f6pfer. No word on what the base price will be for this vision in white, but if it ever gets built, there won’t be anything like it on the seven seas.
