My job is moderating a discussion between <a href=\"http:\/\/www.me-dmc.com\"  target=\"_blank\">DMC<\/a>, aka Darryl McDaniels of Run-DMC fame; the pugilistic <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/freddiefoxxx\"  target=\"_blank\">Freddie Foxxx<\/a>, aka Bumpy Knuckles; and Troy Hightower, of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hightowerproductions.com\"  target=\"_blank\">Hightower Productions<\/a>, the renowned audio engineering firm. I&#8217;m expecting a rich convo from this power-packed trio.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tekserve.com\/about\/hours.php\"  target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2924\" title=\"storefront_angled\" src=\"http:\/\/harryallen.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/storefront_angled.jpg\" alt=\"storefront_angled\" width=\"200\" height=\"275\" \/><\/a>Some background about &#8220;Future of Music&#8221;: We&#8217;ve been hosting these events at Tekserve, right, more or less bimonthly, as of this year. The turnout&#8217;s been consistently excellent, and I&#8217;ve been having a fantastic time with the folks there. Tekserve&#8217;s a great shop to roll through, ask questions, or just see the latest toys. It&#8217;s a friendly, helpful kind of establishment, of the sort that you don&#8217;t see a lot anymore, especially around anything having to do with computers. Hey: I&#8217;m not just president of the panels we do: I&#8217;m a client. In fact, every post I&#8217;ve ever written for MEDIA ASSASSIN, including this one, was created with a PowerBook G4 12&#8243; that I bought at Tekserve four years ago, and it&#8217;s still clicking along. Consider me one of the faithful, as I expect we&#8217;re gonna meet, and make, more tonight.<\/p>\n<p>So, first I&#8217;ll talk with the panel: <em>What is the source of hip-hop&#8217;s influence? How has it affected the media we consume? Where do we see the greatest resistance to its clout, and what is at risk where it is denied?<\/em> Then we&#8217;ll take questions from you, our always-curious audience.
