{"id":5569,"date":"2009-10-22T16:00:12","date_gmt":"2009-10-22T20:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/harryallen.info\/?p=5569"},"modified":"2009-10-22T14:41:20","modified_gmt":"2009-10-22T18:41:20","slug":"pork-bellies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/harryallen.info\/?p=5569","title":{"rendered":"Pork Bellies."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RGObGID6Cr4\"  target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5572\" title=\"screen11\" src=\"http:\/\/harryallen.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/screen11.jpg\" alt=\"screen11\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"http:\/\/harryallen.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/screen11.jpg 639w, http:\/\/harryallen.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/screen11-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s great to see Boost Mobile running <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RGObGID6Cr4\"  target=\"_blank\">the best written, best acted, best produced, best commercial of 2009<\/a> again, above, after a whole summer off.<\/p>\n<p>An obvious advertising masterpiece from the time you first see it, &#8220;Pigs, Unwronged&#8221; is delectably dense with details: The lead&#8217;s momentary disbelief that he&#8217;s being ogled for eating hog; his candid excuse (&#8220;I like a nice ham&#8221;) and self-serving rationalization for cannibalism (&#8220;We&#8217;re just enjoying the flavors of a fallen friend.&#8221; &#8220;True,&#8221; burps his dinnermate); the fluid, expressive body language of the animatronic (watch the ears); the perfectly cast, bored urbanity of the voice actor; that dismissive hoof flick which closes the piece.<\/p>\n<p>It all adds up to 30 seconds of twistedness from an alternate universe where pigs talk, go to fine restaurants, and <em>you&#8217;re<\/em> wrong for recklessly eyeballing porkers chomping pork. Boost Mobile not only gets the viewer&#8217;s attention, but makes the ad an event, rewarding you for sticking with it. In other words, they win.
