The YouTube I found earlier, before someone yanked it down, had video, as opposed to these stills. However, the track—a mashup of Jay’s “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” with the Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony”—bangs. Rock that, Mr. President.

Who’s throwing fits about copyright? “Bittersweet Symphony” was taken off an orchestral recording of the Rolling Stones’s “The Last Time.” Their sample was so inclusive, and their song so clearly based on the original, that they pretty much lost rights to it.
I wonder if it’s the Stones or Jay-Z trying to get it taken down, because I don’t think The Verve has much right to it anymore.

As I stated in an earlier missive, when one’s work can stand alone or blend seamlessly with others, to me that is transendence. Jay is in my opinion, simply the best.
Anyone’s work can blend seamlessly with others, if you have Garage Band.
