Dunno: “Be My Number Two” seems like an unfortunate title choice. I mean, considering this is a guy who was rawly accused of peeing—doing a “Number 1″—on little girls.

If you ask me, it takes a lot to make a woman wanna put a tightly packed grouping like that through a man. So, when it happens, you better believe he did something to ground her last nerve beneath his scuffed Johnston & Murphys. Like Max growled in the Hart to Hart intro, when these two met, it was murder.
Not to condone homicide, of course. Merely to praise Tim Lane’s gritty cover art for Fantagraphics Books’ Hotwire Comics Vol. 2, which continues the title’s standard for packing as many harshly drawn tales of scuminess, dread, and revenge into one volume as possible. Pieces by Danny Hellman, Ivan Brunetti, Chadwick Whitehead, Johnny Ryan, and a masterwork by Glenn Head make the pages pulse. I’m pretty crazy about the stuff this publisher does…and hiding my gun from Zakiya.

A house-sized Thank You to everyone whose been reading Media Assassin, whose passed around links to the posts, whose posted to the forums, and whose subscribed to our feed during our now-ending first week. There’s nothing like the excitement of writing these articles in the dark, sending them out into the ether, then watching the analytics come in. Please keep reading, forwarding, and posting. We’ll work to keep it interesting and varied.

Chello’s aggregator site is newer to me, but also insightful, and the first place I saw the New York Times link reporting that U.S. adult incarceration had was now above 1%.
Carmen I’ve met, worked with, and I rely on Racialicious for seemingly scouring every corner of the net for thoughtful race critique, like this piece on Vivienne Westwood’s perhaps-well-meaning-yet-somehow-still-wrong ad campaign.
