The White Album: Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3.

jay-z_blueprint3_cover

album-now-here-is-nowhereDid your heart leap with anticipation at today’s release of cover art for Jay-Z’s upcoming The Blueprint III, above? (Or, instead, did you, like one blogger, feel compelled to rant that “that optimising album covers for viewing on iPhones leads to f#&*ing sh!@@y album covers”?) Or maybe your beef is that it “looks EXACTLY like the Secret Machines’ 2004 album cover, Now Here Is Nowhere,” above.

Love it? Hate it? Lemme know!

3 red lines= kinda like the tattoos Storm Shadow & Zartan had in the GI Joe comics. Jay gets a bless if the album was actually recorded on tape (doubt it).

I, for one, dig it. I’m curious, though, is that an I-Ching Trigram? Would be cool if the album reflected the concept.

Jay is simply one of the illest. He’s had an opportunity to evolve when so many other rappers have trapped themselves in the bodies of Lil’ men, lil kims, lil waynes, etc. I’m anticipating a grown man’s sound.

and yes, he’s earned his red stripes!

yeah, it looks a lot like an i ching trigram. pretty reminiscent of the dead prez logo, which is an i ching hexagram. here’s an image of the dpz logo: http://eviltwinbooking.org/media/events/image_107_1.gif
